More September News

The following is a compilation of the most important Naverian news from the month of September. A lot has happened in the nation following the Independence Day celebrations on September 9th. The Orblian Observer covers it all.

Diplomatic Relations Change

The foreign policy of Naveria has seen massive changes during the month of September, with seven treaties of mutual recognition signed and three terminated. Hrafnarfjall, Ponderosa Hills, Misberia, West Sayville, Regelis, the Desert District and Queensland have now signed treaties alongside the Commissar for Foreign Affairs, thanks in part to the efforts of Dhrubajyoti Roy, the monarch of Vishwamitra. HRH Duke Casper. The Vancouver Island Soviet Socialist Republic, which has maintained informal bilateral recognition with Naveria since mid-July, intends to sign a treaty legally recognizing this status in the near future. Ebenthal and the Kingdom of Sayville have also proposed the establishment of relations.

Naveria left three diplomatic agreements this month, with the Ohio Republic, Rosemia and O'Duighan. It was reportedly a difficult decision, but was done in the name of professionalism. The Commissariat for Foreign Affairs is expected to release new guidelines for foreign affairs in the month of October, including a strong recommendation to sign the Wrythe and Edgbaston Conventions to preserve integrity and encourage professionalism.

Cultural Survey, Political Parties and Music

On September 12th, HRH Duke Casper launched a non-governmental survey investigating the national culture of the Commonwealth of Naveria, which may be used to direct cultural projects in the future. An indirect result of the survey was the creation of several political parties, some of which have already gained powerful members. In addition, a playlist containing music relevant to the people and culture of the Commonwealth is being created by the monarch, inspired by a similar project completed in New Virginia. It has twenty songs at present and will be released after the survey is completed.

Nine citizens have responded thus far; three of them have created political parties as a result of feeling unrepresented within the survey. Fruits Are Underrated is a regional party which currently rules over the Kusini Special Administrative Region, and is run by its Chief Executive. A branch of the international Shrek Super Party was created by popular micronationalist Zarel Smith, and currently has no government representation. The Conservative Party of Naveria was created by HRH Duke Grandmother Vanessa, and is currently supported by the entire population of Sabiland. Butterscotch, the Duke Grandmother's cat and a noble in the Kingdom of Begonia, was appointed as an honorary member. All other national-level parties now have two human members.

National Forum In-Development

A new service called Naveria@Flarum was launched on the 28th, becoming the first hub for online communication within the nation since the dissolution of the Phoklandian Free State. Six individuals have joined the service thus far, while invites have been sent to citizens and allies at an increasing speed. Most of the foreigners are expected to create eConsulates for their nations, which will act as virtual diplomatic missions to the Commonwealth.

HRH Duke Casper was responsible for the creation of the forum, and as such was appointed as a forum administrator and the keeper of the rules. Zarel Smith is the second and latest citizen to join the service, who was also granted the role of Diplomat due to his many citizenships. Representatives of Vishwamitra, the Confederate States, Begonia and New Athens have also been accepted into Naveria@Flarum. Future plans for the service include expansion of membership, creation of guidelines for eConsulates and integration with other web services.

Mourning for Kuwait

Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, fifth Emir of the State of Kuwait, died due to long-term health issues on September 29th. That afternoon, the State of Vishwamitra declared a day of morning on the 30th to honor the late national leader. Naveria followed suit, lowering national flags to half mast for the day. Government officials saluted the flag whilst the national anthems of Naveria and Kuwait were played that evening. The national flags were raised again on October 1st.

La Salle Convention Begins

A delegate of Naveria was invited to the La Salle convention, which is an online meeting of nations intending to create guidelines for the prevention and condemnation of disruptive and destructive cyber activities, such as the Capelandic raid on Begonian communications. The first meeting was a success, with four articles being passed over a period of a few hours. Naveria participated in all votes and much of the discussion. The La Salle Convention is expected to continue at some point in the first week of October.

Pride (Primis) Act Ratified

Just past midnight on October 1st, the Parliament of Naveria ratified a law adopting a national pride flag designed by Christina I of Cycoldia and recognizing Pride Month and Pride Day as national celebrations. The celebrations are important to LGBTQ+ culture, as they commemorate the 1969 Stonewall Uprising in Manhattan, a tipping point for the Gay Liberation Movement in the United States. The pride flag is permitted to fly alongside the national flag at all times, and can completely replace it during Pride Month.
