Naveria expanded its territorial borders once more on Sunday with the annexations of the first Floridian territories in the nation's history. Longtime citizen Maxwell Ferraro offered to govern his residence as a special administrative region on Saturday, and after a day of negotiations formed the Kusini Special Administrative Region. The region has a population on par with that of New Santiago and is home to Naveria's Swahili speaking community. Chief Executive Ferraro also plans to become the consul to Florida once an ambassador to the United States is found.
An island south of Kusini was also annexed as a subsidium, the first since Pope Island was annexed in October of 2019. The new territory is called Little Formentera and is named after the smallest of the big four islands in the Balearic Islands, an autonomous community in the Kingdom of Spain. Catalan was adopted as its regional language, and its already-popular flag takes inspiration from existing Catalan territories and regions. Like on Pope Island, a naval presence on Little Formentera is expected to be formed in the future.

The new territories will be grouped into a southern canton, according to the territorial grouping legislation which is expected to be proposed in parliament later this month. It will be one of three cantons in the nation, alongside San Benito and the Overseas Territories.
